THE FLATFOOT OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS:
AOFAS/POSNA JOINT WEBINAR

Tuesday, January 23

8:00 - 9:30 pm CT

Most foot and ankle surgeons will see children and young adults for evaluation of the flat foot.  Although this normal foot variant most commonly presents without stiffness, pain or dysfunction, there are patients with symptoms that require deeper assessment and intervention. Sometimes in evaluation of the flatfoot, a tarsal coalition will be identified and require additional treatment. Understanding the clinical and radiographic findings associated with the pathologic flatfoot can lead to better results with non-surgical and operative management. The elements of an operative correction will be discussed. Clinical cases that enhance the synthesis of the material will be deliberated.

At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
  • Identify the clinical and imaging features of the pathologic flatfoot in young people
  • Discuss how the presence of a tarsal coalition could impact the treatment of pes planovalgus
  • Implement a multi-faceted surgical plan that addresses various symptomatic elements of the deformity
